We’ve had tornado weather out here in Chicago last week, and comcast internet had a blackout in this area for several days. And of course thats when Apple releases Final Cut Pro X. To add insult to injury, you have to download it from the App Store… And while I wasn’t surprised by that, I was surprise when the internet connection came back on and I started catching up on tweets. The hate was rampant. What had started out as love, joy and excited had quickly turned into a bitter hate exude by the weeping of editors online. I could sense the despair in the digital air.
And then I found this piece.
I think it sums up perfectly the feelings of FCP editors around the world. So before you go research the price of Premier or Avid take a look at this great video displayed above.
I’ve had the chance to briefly check out the new Zacuto EVF and, well its awesome. Some of you will remember my somewhat harsh criticisms when it was first announced. Oh how the tables have turned since then. Zacuto has come out will a killer product on time, and Redrock Micro has done nothing more than make a fool of themselves. I’ll be surprised if they even get their remote follow focus out as soon as they stated.
I hope to get my hands on the Z-Finder EVF to do a review for you guys, but in the meantime, check out Nino’s great review.
This weeks Monday Likes comes from someone I have huge respect for. Jeremy Cowart has epic talents, as seen in this piece. Got me thinking about photography, art and convergence of the two.
Its always difficult to find affordable gear that is of high quality. Well in the case of support rods, I’ve found a great brand that offers a strong affordable set of rods.
This weeks Monday Like pick is this great little piece by Amsterdam World Wide. Its been out for a while, but I missed getting it on the site. Every time I see this video, I get an itch to get out of the studio and go make something. I hope you enjoy.
I had a chance to sit down with director Kevin Otterness a while back and talk about what he is up to and many other topics. We covered breaking into film, film education, whether film school is important or not, gear, and how to find and create story. For more information on what Kevin is up to, check out his blog, and/or follow him on twitter @KevinOtterness.
