I have been using these battery grips on both my cameras for a while now, and really love them. Not only do they give you extra power (which is great for us video folk), but you also get a more stable camera, easier access to batteries, and you’ll look like a boss doing it. These Vello battery grips are also very affordable compared to the Canon brand options.

A thought just popped into my head.Do you have any idea if there is an issue with mixing and matching generic batteries with Canon batteries in that grip?

Have you had any trouble with the battery power indicator in the camera working inconsistently or not at all when you have two batteries in the grip? I’ve got two unbranded Chinese import grips, and they almost always display 100% charge right up to the moment they die. There is no warning and I’ve totally blown important shots because of it. If the Vello grips fix this, I would definitely upgrade.

I imagine this could happen when using non-chipped, noname batteries inside the grip, like the ones that often come bundled in the package, but I’m not sure…

I have mixed like 4 different battery brands with the Canon ones and it seems to work fine.
