While I am not a raving fan of the narration of this piece, I really like the flow and creative footage in this video. Why use author interviews and chapter selections when you can use film and narration to get people excited about a book.

I would have to agree. Music and visuals could totally get you psyched about this book without that narration. Sometimes narration can give you an opposite feeling and can induce a negative opinion upon what was said. Leave it to the motion and music to entice individuals about this book. Sometimes simplicity speaks louder.

Thanks for sharing! This is Esteban, the author of the book. I wrote the narration myself and it’s my wife’s voice you hear on the video. My brother Diego shot + directed + edited the video. This video had a lot of heart in it and it was completely DIY with no budget (all shots were compiled through the year as my brother traveled the world for other shoots). I’m definitely considering a follow-up that has no narration and perhaps other videos with simpler narrations or perhaps just text. For this one, it was important to have that narration as there was a specific message we were trying to convey. And of course, the goal of the video is to spark interest in the book so visuals alone may have been too limited and vague for some people. Thanks again!!

I concur Esteban, I liked having the narrative. But the delivery seemed strange to me. At any rate, I think you are really onto something with this book promo film business… Such a great idea, using a visual medium to promo a book. I’ll have to check out your book!!!

Thanks. I hope so! There are not enough book trailer videos out there in my opinion. I hope you read SOCIAL STATE and let me know what you think :)
