vg900The Sony NEX-VG900 gets a 4/5 in my book. I loved working with a full frame video camera. And having APS-C as an option that can be turned on is brilliant. Check out my review for more details and demo footage.

Special thanks to Will Sullivan of WS Photography for his help!!!

Great review! One thing in your intro, you spelled “Shooter,” “Shooeter”

Shots with the beer: Phenomenal. Isn’t it 5 o’clock somewhere??????

Thanks Michael! Yeah… I noticed that after the upload. Used a dud intro file. Thanks for the heads up! I’ll replace tonight.

Exactly… Whats funny was I messed up and didn’t get the frame rate switched on the first beer pour, so I had to give it a second shot. Productivity took a slight hit that afternoon ;-)

Your audio is so solid when you are talking at the table and it doesn’t look like you use a lapel mic. What mic do you use and do you have any good mic suggestions for high quality and lower on the price cost? I’m happy to buy through an affiliate link :)

What about the avchd codec? I had some experience with it, while using the sony ax2000 camcorder and it looks okay but deals very poorly with color grading, the image starts to break easily… Is 28 mbps enough?

Great job on this review.:-) Question. Would the camera have auto exposure and focus if I had a Tokina 11-16m on in video mode? Cheers..

can we close the shutter when the lens is removed. Because the sensor do not have a protection.

How was the audio with the onboard mic?

great review!! am considering to buy one of those…but has a little question: as i am coming from canon dslr, i would love to use my ef lenses in this new beast…but, how good does the ef lenses works on this sony? do i still have control over aperture, shutter, iris, etc…with the camera controls?

  • http://dslrvideoshooter.com calebpike

Thanks Will. You would have to get an electronic adapter for the camera to control aperture… Something like this: http://www.freshdv.com/2012/02/metabones-eos-emount-review.html

Did the adapter still allow for AF? or was it purely manual focus? thanks!
