After traveling a lot with gear I’ve found there is no perfect bag or backpack. Over the last year I’ve come up with a way to turn any bag into the perfect production bag while traveling. The key is the keep your in-bag gear packed the same way. Watch the video above to see what I’m talking about and check out the gear used below.
1. Domke Wraps
These Domke Wraps rock. I have several of them and use them all the time for monitors, cameras and lenses. For the setups I mentioned in the video above, I use them for cameras keeping one side open for easy access in your bag.
2. Porta Brace Lens Cups
Porta Brace Lens Cups are just what the sound like. These are tough, cylinder shaped bags, that protect your lenses. I also use these for NP-F batteries, my audio transmitters/receivers and more.
3. Porta Brace Stuff Sacks
The Porta Brace Stuff Sacks are perfect for batteries, filters, cables and other random gear. Using these sacks with the Domke Wraps and Lens Cups completes your clean, simple and organized bag.

Classic Army Messenger Shoulder Bag
In the video I mentioned the “Jack Bauer Bag” this bag is the bomb and can be had for under $30. You can get it in several different colors and yes, this seriously is identical to the Jack bag:
