I found these interesting commercials on vimeo the other day and really enjoyed them. I love the use of typography and motion matching done in each of them. Check em out:

Is there an easy way to ‘pin’ the text/image to a color/element in the video? How do they make the text move together with the video? (Besides doing it frame by frame)

Hey Caleb, really nice find and thanks for sharing =)
Ps.Just a heads up: There’s another EF one for Barcelona I found on Niklas Johansson’s site. Here’s the YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umU6FXeMJVw (Don’t know if there’s a Vimeo link)

Just got my first DSLR, the 550D, out here in Bangalore, India and was looking around for people who know the camera and can show me the ropes of taking good videos. Going to purchase the Cowboy Studio Shoulder Rig you reviewed earlier and maybe DIY the rail setup you got. Also looking at getting the Zeikos macro and lens filter kits for $11 a pop. On a tight budget, would these be a sorta good start to explore what my camera can do..?

Also, if you don’t mind all the questions, what do you think of the Magic Lantern project ? Seems like a couple of the project’s features, like intervalometer, headphone monitoring, rack focus etc. could help save money for amateurs like me who are starting out. Found a lot of good info on their Vimeo Group: http://vimeo.com/groups/magiclantern/

Cheers and thanks for the kickass blog !!
(And also for letting me go off-topic =P)

Yeah I saw that one, but I like posting in 3s ;) and the 3 above where my favorite.

Sounds like you are on the right track. I am a big fan of the magic lattern hack. Use at your own risk but its pretty amazing.

    Thanks,

    Caleb

I think its frame by frame, or AE tracking or something.

  • Aaron Khare

Haha.. I’ll keep that in mind next time =)

My folks are visiting Canada right now, so trying to get the stuff shipped close by in time for them to pick it up.

And yeah, I loved all the warnings on the ML wikia, especially ‘This Is Dangerous and Might Damage Your Camera. If It Breaks, You Get To Keep Both Pieces’.
    So I got it =P

    Cheers!

I love this – a marriage of what I studied at university (Modern Languages/Exchange) and what I do now (Design/Media).

Hi there, I was fortunate to get to see Niklas Johansson in action when he shot these with his 5D and 7D. Now EF has released 3 more film in the same series, they are at
    http://www.ef.com/livethelanguage (or on Vimeo:
    http://www.vimeo.com/groups/livethelanguage/videos
    )
The creative team is the same: Gustav Johansson (Director), his brother Niklas Johansson (DoP), Albin Holmquist (Typography). Cheers, Mats EF
