That is cool, I will have to send you a picture, you can actually see it in my last video I just put out.

i must have gotten some lame-o arms because they will NOT hold my dslr and lens…maybe my setup is too heavy!

Thanks Caleb, appreciate the posting; Also, if anyone is wondering – that’s the Pentax-A 50mm f/2.0 lens with a Fotodiox Pentax-K to M43rds adapter on the GH2. I have also figured out a way to monitor the GH2′s audio via headphones while still utilizing the shotgun mic and w/out an external audio monitor (i.e. juicelink, etc.) Same setup also allows me to plug in both a shotgun mic for ambient sound and a wireless mic, but losses the ability to monitor the sound going this route. If you are curious, shoot me an email at scott@scoutprovideo.com.

Which arm did you buy? What cam/lens/gear do you have to support?

  • Stefano Armanini

The configuration in the photo weighs 1.620 kg (3,57 lbs) and it’s rock
solid. I moved the handle to a scorpion-like position, but what you see
in the photo was totally solid too. The lens you see is somewhat heavy, it’s a Nikon Ai 35-70mm f3.5. I’m using 10″ arms, though maybe a shorter (8″ or so) arm for the follow focus would be handier. I was carrying it around the day I received the D|focus in the mail,
I felt like a baby with a new toy, it’s a comfortable solution, with a
small footprints which doesn’t intimidate people (I shoot often in
public places and I need to be as light as possible), it’s quick to
mount/dismount on a tripod and the follow focus can be detached in a
jiffy. I can’t thanks Caleb enough for pointing me in this direction!

What handle is on Stephano’s rig? I’m searching for a solid handle on the cheap, preferably under $70.

I just got some arms, I will submit my pic when they arrive!

  • Stefano Armanini

Hi Todd, I got it from http://www.hangrip.com. Cheers, S.
