Filmmakers on the Topic of Story

This year at NAB the FreshDV team did several videos in a series called Conversations with Filmmakers And while all these videos are great, I really enjoyed this one in particular. I have to admit that when I read the title I rolled my eyes. The word “Story” is such a buzz word that is used by hypocritical self proclaimed “filmmakers” we are quick to talk about how to tell a good story but then produce little to none ourselves (myself included). What do you think makes a great story? And how can you implement that in your next piece?

Camera Spec Obsessive Disorder

I just finished reading a fantastic article on FreshDV. If you haven’t heard of the site, head over and check out their content and reviews. In the article Evan Luzi of The Black and Blue writes about our obsession with specs, and how it can hinder us as filmmakers. It is a brilliant read and I encourage everyone to check it out.

Where to Get Your NAB Coverage

The Super Bowl of filmmaking tech is here… Its NAB season kids!

I was not able to get out to Vegas this year for the event unfortunately. But I know where the best coverage is going to come from. For the last several years I have been super impressed with FreshDV’s coverage of NAB. Matt Jeppsen and Kendal Miller have always delivered top notch stuff. And this year they are teaming up with the fellas from NextWave DV who are killing it over on their site as well. So this is a completely shameless plug for them this year. And no, I was not paid to say any of this. Can’t wait to see what they will come up with.

So grab some popcorn and enjoy the show!
