The A7s is an incredible camera, but like all small bodied cameras, it can be a real pain to use with accessories or even tripods. That is where cages come in. As someone who reviews gear a lot I’ve seen some pretty horrible cages and some amazing ones. Here are my top 7 picks for the best A7s cage options currently available.
1. Movcam A7s Cage ($261-360)
(Available at eBay and B&H Photo Video)
This A7s cage from Movcam has some pretty sweet features for a cage in it’s price range. You can use the cage in it’s entirety or detach the plate by the handle for a better grip experience. You can also built up the cage for use on 15mm rods as seen above.

2. Varavon Armor A7s Pro Cage ($299)
(Available at eBay and B&H Photo Video)
The Varavon Armor A7s Cage has become a very popular cage options for A7s shooters. What is interesting about the Varavon cage is that there is an included leather hand strap.

3. Motion9 Cube Alpha A7s Cage ($300)
(Available on eBay and from Motion9)
This is one of the more sexy cage models available for the A7s. Love the combination of wood and aluminum. What makes this cage a little different is the way the handle can be slid forward and back. This is a very nice feature as most top handles have to be removed and flipped around.
This cage also includes an HDMI lock which is also pretty slick. Check out Motion9’s video of the Cube A7s cage below.
You can purchase the Motion9 Cube Alpha A7s Cage from eBay and from Motion9.
4. Walimex Pro XL Cage ($399)
(Available on eBay and B&H Photo Video)
While the Walimex Pro cage is more expensive than previously mention cages, you can use it with any DSLR or mirror-less camera. This cage even fits many camcorders.
I own this cage and it is one of the best I’ve worked with. Check out my full review in the video below.
5. SmallRig A7s Cage ($60-75)
(Available on eBay and Amazon)
The A7s cage from SmallRig is one of the cheapest cages on the market. If you’re on a tight budget and just want a basic cage for your A7s this is the option for you.
You can also pick up one of many SmallRig top handles to make this a more usable cage.
You can pick up a SmallRig cage from eBay or Amazon.
6. LockCircle BirdCage A7s Cage ($399+)
(Available at LockCircle)
There is no way around it, this is an expensive ass cage for the size. That said, I can’t get over how minimal and compact this gorgeous little cage is.
There is definitely more to this cage than meets the eye. For instance, the Birdcage can interface with the Metabones adapters for a super solid lock and the BirdCage includes the famous LockPort.
You can pick up a BirdCage for your A7s at LockCircle.com.
7. Wooden Camera Quick Cage ($399+)
(Available on eBay, B&H Photo Video and at Wooden Camera)
I’ve owned a Wooden Camera Quick Cage for quite some time now and it is still one of my favorites. It is also the most expensive cage I’ve ever owned or seen but it is worth it when you feel how strong this thing is. Like the Walimex Pro cage, the Wooden Camera Quick Cage can be used with almost any camera.
Because of the cage’s strength, you can build a massive rig off of it without worry. Just checkout the animal above.
