Finding the best lens for video production is a tough task. Here you will find a list of lenses that I own or have owned and loved. As I acquire new lenses and retire old ones this list will change.
Nikon 28-70 F2.8 $600-800
This is my main work horse and it gets used all the time. Tank of a lens with a nice range for most projects. This lens is also manual so it works great on any camera with an adapter.
You can find this lens used on eBay.
Nikon 80-200 F2.8 $500-800
This is another great manual zoom lens from Nikon. I use this lens a ton on my second camera for tighter shots in interviews and as my general telephoto lens.
You can find this lens used on eBay.
Nikon 17-35mm F2.8 $700-900
This lens is one of my favorites. Who doesn’t love a wide angle? The range is perfect for so many applications and I never leave the house without this baby.
You can find this lens used on eBay.
Tamron 24-70mm F2.8 VC $1,299
This is probably the perfect all around lens. I use this lens for random shots and as my stills lens. This lens also is great for handheld work because of the amazon vibration control (VC).
You can find this lens on Amazon, B&H Photo Video and eBay.
Panasonic 14mm F2.5 $249-397
This is a MFT lens I use on my GH4 when shooting on a gimbal system or a stabilizer. The size is great for light setups and the focus length works well for pretty much anything. I also love the price!
You can find this lens on B&H Photo Video, Amazon and eBay.
